Bring 4 cups of water to a simmer and carefully add in the baking soda. {do not bring to a boil- think elementary school volcano experiment}
Stir the pretzel mix and beer together in a large bowl until mostly combines.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
Cut the dough into 6 even pieces then roll each piece into round tube. Cut into 2 inch pretzel pieces.
In a few batches, place the pretzels into the simmering water for just 5-10 seconds. The dough will float to the top when ready. Drain and place onto a lined baking sheet.
Bake for 7 minutes. Rotate the pan and bake another 6-7 minutes until golden brown. Brush with the melted butter and sprinkle with the sea salt.
